Life in Images: A Future in the Making

My teenage son and I went on a college tour. It was quite exciting and brought back a lot of memories. He wants to get a degree in music, so it was perfect that our tour guide was a music education major.

The tour started with an introduction overview, where the admissions staff talked about the university's history and the benefits the school has to offer. Each prospective student shared their college interests and parents were able to ask questions and address their concerns.

Then we headed out and walked the campus, dorms, and student areas. After a morning of talking, walking, questions, and more walking, I asked my son, "What do you think? You excited?" He said, "I don't know, Mom. It was just okay."

This looks to be one stop on a long journey to come!

Business in Stilettos: Why Is Entrepreneurship Important?

When delving into entrepreneurship, I wondered for years—trying to decide which type of business would best suit me. Though business ownership was always part of me, I could never settle on one thing. For a while, I thought this was abnormal. I dismissed this view after finally realizing that I could embrace being multi-talented. In fact, I learned that it was my nature to be so.

I possess an impulsive temperament, which means that I’m spontaneous, visionary, a risk-taker, and often viewed as someone with influence. Yet I’m equally impatient and audacious. So, what did this mean for me? It meant that I was learning about myself—the good, the bad, and the challenging. I eventually understood why some jobs bored me and why I often felt unfulfilled. I wasn’t tapping into my core strengths.
